You start the year knowing exactly where it is that you want to go, Cancer, and that sense of individuality won’t leave you. With Uranus in Aries, it’s about freedom, taking a stand and, if needs be, changing your world. With Pluto clashing with this energy at times, and in your partnership zone of all places, others may not take kindly to this. At best, Pluto can force you to look at opulence, whereas at worst it’s frugality, and these clashes are undoubtedly around this year.

There’s a very good chance that you may find yourself up against it where authority figures are concerned. You may rail against their wishes and cause ructions in the workplace, simply because you can, or because you feel that you should be making a stand against ill treatment. You will feel like lashing out against restriction because of Uranus, but you won’t be able to escape the pull of planet Pluto either, so pointless rebellion may not be the best way forward. This is the time to let your head govern your heart, and look at things from a pragmatic standpoint.

New and sudden opportunities will spring up in your life, and you’ll be at your enterprising best as the year starts to unfold.

You’ll also find yourself being able to rid yourself of old oppressions and you’ll be highly responsible and highly charge as you head off in a new direction, or on a new crusade. There will be times when you’ll feel curtailed by Pluto, but underpinning this control are deep and profound transformations that must happen in your life in order that you grow and develop and realise your full potential.

These transformations will be in partnerships, work and possibly even in relationships. This could hold you back, but at the same time it may also give you time to reflect and banish all those hidden tensions that have been simmering away under the surface.

You will clear the decks by being a lot more self-reliant than usual, and that is a great accomplishment for you, Cancer, so please don’t forget the odd reward for your efforts throughout the year.

You must also learn to stop turning immediately to others for approval and/or a pat on the back – as this would only make things comfortable and that is exactly the type of thing 2012 is about expelling from your life.

As you go forward you operate in a far more impulsive and dramatic way, and even if there are power struggles this year, you will not give into them. You are in charge. You are individual. You are out there to start a new life.

Jupiter has been in the sign of Taurus, where it will stay until June of this year, and this has helped you be ambitious. After this month however, once it enters Gemini, it’s important that you begin to look at what’s no longer needed in your life. Cut things back.
