Yearly Horoscope for Aries - 2012

Be yourself – the person you know that you can be, even in the face of resistance from the world around you. Uranus is in your sign you see, whetting your appetite for freedom – and this will colour your view of many things in your life as 2012 begins to take hold. You will start a process of redeveloping and redefining what you see as your old life. The old you. The predictable you. But before you get too carried away, you do have to share this planet with other people, so a ‘my way or the highway’ attitude won’t cut the mustard. This won’t stop you being extremely dismissive of anything around you that think is a spent force, or challenging any authority figures that you feel have overstepped the mark or behaved unfairly.

That sense of burgeoning freedom may be strong within you, but Pluto in Capricorn is acting as counterbalance, serving as a constant reminder to you that, somewhere along the line, the piper has to be paid. Pointless rebellion will not bring you the desired results, so perhaps you should let the old fall away from your life in an evolutionary way instead. Trust the cosmos to guide you and do not underestimate the power of subtlety.

I would say that this is an ideal year to expose yourself to new approaches and take a few twists and turns that you have avoided in the past, mainly through fear of the unknown. Mars, your ruling planet, is going backwards and this will be the case until April, so you’ll be more likely to take the road less travelled after your birthday.

Jupiter, meanwhile, will help you recognise your own worth and brings you lots of new options, new ideas and most definitely some new communications. This planet will also help you crystallise what you need for your own self-satisfaction and development, and June will be a pivotal month for all of the above.

There are also two eclipses happening at this time – one in May and one in June – and both make your mind whizz ahead with so many fantastic ideas about what gains could be made this year. Please believe that you are an achiever, a leader – you are the first sign, after all but, again, you are not going to be able to plough ahead without even a little bit of help from others. You’re not living in a bubble.

Saturn in your partnership zone may have blighted your rapport with other people, and give you a feeling of being hindered at every turn, but this rigid planet moves come October, freeing you up to look at everything with a fresh pair of eyes, and considering more fully the long term.

The clashes between Uranus and Pluto may bring about dissatisfaction at work or a restlessness of some kind, but don’t rush headlong into anything, and keep in mind that your ambition and the sheer scope of your plans may be a difficult pill for others to swallow. And one you may have no choice but to sugar-coat.
